There was much anticipation surrounding the upcoming Libertines film ‘There Are No Innocent Bystanders’ which premiered at the opening gala of the East End film festival. For members of a certain generation, The Libertines were the dirty-faced champions of national pride, and so the fact that this film premiered in the week of the royal wedding, as London stood draped beneath a thousand Union Jacks, seemed sweetly ironic.

Southend-based indie rock quartet Baddies have announced details of their latest single ‘Tiger Face’, which is due for release on 6th June. The track can be heard below by watching the brand new video. Baddies are currently working on their second album, the follow-up to their 2009 debut ‘Do The Job’. Voluntary Butler Scheme, the one-man project from Dudley-based musician Rob Jones, has revealed details of his new album ‘The Grandad Galaxy’, which is due for release on 18th July. The album is Jones’s second to date, following his 2009 debut ‘At Breakfast, Dinner, Tea’. The Voluntary Butler Scheme will also be touring the UK this month as support for The Victorian English Gentlemen’s Club and former Beta Band frontman Steve Mason. See below for dates.

Californian pop-punkers Set Your Goals have confirmed details of their new album, which is due for release on 27th June. ‘Burning At Both Ends’ is the band’s third album and follows 2009’s ‘This Will Be The Death Of Us’. Set Your Goals will be touring the UK in May and June, which will include performances at the Slam Dunk festivals in London and Leeds and the Slam Dunk Tour with Less Than Jake, Anti-Flag and Goldfinger. Following their recent addition to the Reading & Leeds line-up earlier this week, Milton Keynes punk rockers Capdown have revealed further live dates for the coming months. The band, who officially split in 2008, originally reformed last year for one-off performances at the Slam Dunk festival. However, they have now revealed headlining dates in July, August and November in addition to appearances at Rebellion and Hevy festivals. See below for all dates.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and The Descendents are among the acts confirmed for this year’s Lock Up Stage at the Reading and Leeds festivals in August. Following the recently-announced line-up for the events’ Dance Stage, which will hit Reading on Friday 26th before moving on to Leeds on Saturday 27th, bands for the Lock Up Stage on the remaining two days have now been revealed.

Musical comic Tim Minchin has been confirmed for the comedy stage at the first-ever Apple Cart festival in Victoria Park, London. Acts previously announced for the event on 7th August include Badly Drawn Boy, St Etienne, Soul II Soul and The Magic Numbers. Among the list of other comedians announced for the Apple Cart are stand-ups Marcus Brigstocke and Jon Richardson.

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has announced that despite his various successful side-projects, he cannot envision the band ever ending. Since the band was formed in 1995, Grohl has performed as a part of various acts including Them Crooked Vultures, Queens Of The Stone Age and Tenacious D. However, the singer has revealed this week that being a member of the side-projects only makes him want to be more involved when returning to perform with Foo Fighters.
